Microchip Technology (Nasdaq: MCHP) has unveiled its Model Context Protocol (MCP) Server, an AI-powered interface designed to simplify access to verified product information for embedded engineers. The new platform aims to accelerate design workflows, improve productivity, and provide seamless integration of Microchip’s public data into AI development environments.

The MCP Server connects directly with large language models (LLMs) and compatible AI tools, offering context-aware responses to conversational queries. Users can instantly retrieve up-to-date product specifications, datasheets, inventory details, pricing, and lead times, enabling faster and more informed engineering decisions.

Built on streamable HTTP standards, the server delivers JSON-encoded outputs optimized for AI clients, including Copilots, chatbots, LLM-based integrated development environments (IDEs), and enterprise AI agents. By integrating verified product data directly into these platforms, Microchip positions the MCP Server as a productivity-enhancing tool for developers navigating complex design environments.

“The launch of our MCP Server is another example of how Microchip is leaning into AI and providing AI-based tools that help make life easier for our customers,” said Rich Simoncic, Chief Operating Officer at Microchip Technology. “By enabling instant access to verified product information within the AI platforms developers already rely on, we’re removing barriers and making it easier to design with Microchip solutions.”

The platform is designed to support a wide range of applications, combining technical and sourcing information to streamline automation, enhance design productivity, and reduce time-to-market for electronic solutions. This approach reflects broader industry trends in AI adoption, digital transformation, and integration of intelligent systems into engineering workflows.

Microchip’s MCP Server is publicly accessible at no cost, providing developers with immediate access to the endpoint HTML and integration guidelines.
