DEEPX, a South Korea-based AI semiconductor company, has entered into a strategic collaboration with Wind River, a global provider of intelligent edge software, to deliver a joint hardware-software solution aimed at accelerating edge AI deployment across mission-critical industries.
The partnership integrates DEEPX’s on-device AI semiconductors with Wind River’s VxWorks real-time operating system and the Wind River Helix Virtualization Platform. Together, the companies aim to offer a robust, pre-validated stack optimized for sectors such as aerospace, defense, industrial automation, and robotics—where safety, reliability, and low-latency performance are essential.
“Edge AI is on a path to unlock incredible opportunities across industries,” said Lokwon Kim, CEO of DEEPX. “Partnering with Wind River enables us to deliver platforms that combine performance with power and cost efficiency, especially in sectors where precision is non-negotiable.”
The rise of real-time AI at the edge presents both unprecedented potential and complex technical demands. The integration of DEEPX’s neural processing units (NPUs) with Wind River’s software stack is designed to simplify the process of embedding AI into real-time and edge systems. According to Wind River’s Avijit Sinha, Senior Vice President of Strategy and Global Business Development, the collaboration will “advance AI to deliver tremendous outcomes across applications and industries.”
DEEPX’s chips are already used across smart cities, surveillance, consumer electronics, and industrial AI servers. The collaboration allows developers to reduce development cycles while addressing key security and safety standards—critical in regulated environments.
