Benchmark Electronics, Inc. (NYSE: BHE), a leading provider of engineering and manufacturing services, has appointed Charles “Chuck” Swoboda to its Board of Directors, the company announced on Monday.

Swoboda, a veteran of the technology and manufacturing sectors, is best known for his tenure as Chairman and CEO of Cree, Inc., where he led the company’s transformation from a research-focused firm into a $1.6 billion global player in semiconductors and LED lighting. Under his leadership, Cree introduced thousands of new products and secured over 5,000 patents, 24 of which list him as a co-inventor.

“Chuck is a visionary leader whose track record in scaling advanced technology businesses and driving innovation aligns perfectly with Benchmark’s strategic direction,” said Jeff Benck, President and CEO of Benchmark.

David W. Scheible, Chairman of the Board, added, “Chuck’s deep understanding of advanced manufacturing, operational excellence, and global supply chains will enhance our board’s perspective.”

Swoboda also brings extensive boardroom experience, currently serving on the board of Ryder System, Inc. (NYSE: R) and previously holding board roles at Anixter International, Vesper Technologies, and several startups. He is also the author of The Innovator’s Spirit and serves as Innovator-in-Residence at Marquette University, where he earned his degree in electrical engineering.

His appointment is expected to support Benchmark’s ongoing expansion in complex technology solutions, particularly in sectors such as semiconductors and IoT.

Benchmark said Swoboda’s insights will be instrumental in advancing the company’s innovation strategy and enhancing customer value across global markets.
