JP Hathout to Lead Teradyne Robotics, Succeeding Kumar

Jean-Pierre “JP” Hathout, Teradyne

Teradyne Inc. (NASDAQ: TER) has appointed Jean-Pierre “JP” Hathout as President of the Teradyne Robotics Group, the company announced Tuesday. Hathout succeeds Ujjwal Kumar and will oversee Teradyne’s robotics portfolio, which includes Universal Robots and Mobile Industrial Robots (MiR).

Hathout, who was named President of Universal Robots in May, will continue to lead the collaborative robotics company alongside his new role. He previously served as President of MiR for two years, where he strengthened the company’s product lineup and expanded its global footprint. Before joining Teradyne’s robotics businesses, Hathout spent 17 years at Bosch in various international management roles.

“JP’s extensive background in automation and his proven leadership across our robotics companies make him the right choice to lead the Robotics Group,” said Greg Smith, Teradyne’s President and CEO. “The robotics industry is fast-changing, and I am confident in JP’s ability to navigate challenges and drive growth.”

Hathout said his dual leadership roles will enable him to harness synergies between Universal Robots, a pioneer in collaborative robots, and MiR, a leader in autonomous mobile robots. “This is an opportunity to leverage the significant technical and commercial strengths of both brands at a time of rapid innovation and growing market potential,” he said.

The appointment comes as Teradyne deepens its focus on industrial automation.
