Mitutoyo America Corporation has introduced the QM-Fit Smart Vision System, a new compact optical metrology solution designed to simplify precision measurement.
The all-in-one system integrates a high-resolution 20-megapixel color camera with a telecentric lens, offering clear and accurate imaging across a wider field of view. Its 15.6-inch color touchscreen provides an intuitive interface, while the system’s Automatic Element Detection feature identifies workpieces, determines alignment, and performs measurement routines without manual setup.
Mitutoyo emphasizes that the QM-Fit system is designed to balance advanced automation with streamlined operation. By recognizing part geometry and initiating measurements automatically, the system aims to reduce operator workload and improve throughput, while maintaining measurement accuracy.
Performance specifications include measurement accuracy of ±10 µm (±0.000394”), repeatability of 2σ ≤ 4 µm, and a guaranteed accuracy temperature range of 20±1 °C. Results can be displayed in multiple units, including millimeters, microns, inches, and microinches, making the system adaptable to diverse manufacturing requirements.
The QM-Fit also incorporates multiple lighting options, including stage and eight-quadrant ring illumination, to capture detailed images of components. Digital magnification levels from 1x to 100x are operator-selectable, and the measurable range extends to 115 x 75 x 36 mm (4.5″ x 3.0″ x 1.4”).
Mitutoyo notes that the system is intended to provide manufacturers with reliable, repeatable performance while simplifying measurement tasks. By combining advanced optics, automation, and an integrated computing platform, the QM-Fit is positioned to support quality assurance processes across industries.
The company stated that demonstrations and consultations for the new system are available through local representatives and distributors.
