Cosel Co, Ltd (6905: Tokyo), a leading name in power supply solutions, has announced the expansion of its 3000W low-profile power supply series with the introduction of the FETA3000BC-250. This AC/DC enclosed power supply is designed to cater to the demands of industrial applications requiring a fast output voltage response, specifically in the range of 100VDC to 350VDC.
Cosel’s latest offering incorporates advanced built-in digital microprocessor technology, featuring active current sharing, allowing for the simple parallel connection of up to ten units for enhanced power output or redundancy. The FETA3000BC-250 achieves high efficiency through its active filter and employs a phase-shift, full-bridge topology, boasting an efficiency level of up to 93%.
One of the key drivers behind the development of the FETA3000BC-250 is the rising demand for rapid output voltage adjustments in industrial applications such as laser, plasma processing, and industrial heating. To meet this requirement, the power supply unit offers a remarkable response time of just 1.5 milliseconds across the entire output voltage range, ensuring precise and efficient power control.
With an input voltage range of 170 to 264VAC, the FETA3000BC-250 delivers a nominal output voltage of 250VDC, which can be adjusted from 180VDC to 350VDC using the built-in potentiometer or from 100VDC to 350VDC through the trimming analog control function available at the interface connector. The nominal output current is 12A, and at 230VAC input, the unit achieves an impressive efficiency of up to 93%.
The FETA3000BC series integrates a sophisticated voltage and current balance control system using Cosel’s digital microprocessor technology. This simplifies the parallel or series connection of units, allowing for up to ten units to be connected without the need for additional external components. The advanced digital control optimizes switching parameters for improved efficiency, ultimately reducing energy consumption.
To ensure quiet operation, the FETA3000BC series features a thermo-regulated fan with automatic speed adjustment based on cooling requirements.
The unit comes equipped with essential safety features, including inrush current limiting circuitry, overcurrent and overvoltage protection, and thermal protection. Power Good and Alarm signals are available from the interface panel and are indicated by LEDs. The unit can also be remotely controlled via an RC pin.
Designed for industrial environments, the FETA3000BC series operates within a temperature range of -10 to +70°C, with humidity levels of 20 – 90% RH (non-condensing), and up to 3,000m (10,000 feet) maximum altitude. Depending on cooling and assembly methods, a power derating may apply.
In terms of compliance, the FETA3000BC includes an input filter and adheres to various industry standards, including FCC Part 15-A, CISPR32-A, EN55032-A, and VCCI-A. For applications requiring higher levels of conducted noise attenuation, Cosel recommends the use of the NAC-20-472 filter. The power supply unit boasts an input-to-output isolation of 3,000VAC, input-to-ground (FG) of 2,000VAC, and output-to-ground (FG) of 2,000VAC. It is UL62368-1, C-UL (CSA62368-1), EN62368-1 safety approved.
With a compact 1U form factor, the FETA3000BC measures 102 x 41 x 340mm (4.02 x 1.61 x 13.39 inches) (WxHxD) and weighs a maximum of 2.3kg.
The FETA3000BC series caters to a wide range of industrial applications, including measurement and analysis equipment, machine tools, semiconductor manufacturing equipment, battery chargers, and power amplifiers. The power supplies are compliant with the RoHS directive and bear CE and UKCA markings in accordance with the Low Voltage Directive.
