Norwegian Firm Elliptic Labs Grows Smartphone Presence with Six August Launches

Elliptic Labs’ INNER BEAUTY Proximity Sensor Enhances HONOR 90 GT Smartphone’s Call Experience

Norway’s Elliptic Labs (OSE: ELABS), a global AI software company, said its AI Virtual Smart Sensor Platform was deployed in six smartphone models launched in August by leading handset makers.

HONOR introduced the Play 70 Plus, vivo released the TR4 and iQOO Z10R, Xiaomi rolled out the Redmi Note 15 and Redmi Note 15 Pro, and Transsion launched the Infinix GT30. The additions bring Elliptic Labs’ year-to-date smartphone deployments in 2025 to 45 models, the company said Tuesday.

Elliptic Labs, headquartered in Oslo, is the developer of AI Virtual Smart Sensors, which are currently used in more than half a billion devices worldwide. Its core product, the AI Virtual Proximity Sensor, uses software to detect when a user holds the phone to their ear during a call. The feature turns off the screen and disables touch functions, preventing accidental inputs while also conserving battery life.

Unlike conventional hardware-based sensors, Elliptic’s software-only solution offers manufacturers lower costs, reduced complexity, and eliminates sourcing risks. Proximity detection remains a standard feature across all smartphones, but Elliptic positions its AI-driven virtual sensor as a scalable and more resilient alternative.

“Elliptic Labs’ AI Virtual Smart Sensor Platform was launched on six smartphone models in August 2025, bringing our total to 45 smartphone model launches year-to-date 2025,” Chief Executive Officer Laila Danielsen said in the statement.

With design wins across brands including HONOR, vivo, Xiaomi, and Transsion, Elliptic Labs continues to expand its global reach in a highly competitive smartphone market. The company is targeting opportunities where software-based innovation can replace hardware components, particularly in power efficiency and user experience.
