Optrans Corporation, in partnership with Marktech Optoelectronics, has launched a new line of ultraviolet (UV) and near-ultraviolet LEDs. The series includes 365 nm, 395 nm, and 405 nm LEDs, designed for industrial, scientific, and specialty applications.
The new LEDs deliver high optical power in cost-effective molded-through-hole packages. They offer engineers and OEMs precise control for curing, fluorescence, forensics, disinfection, and non-destructive testing (NDT).
The 365 nm UVA LEDs (Optrans USFZ366C5 and USFZ366C1 / Marktech MTE3660C1-UV and MTE3660C5-UV) deliver bright, stable output. Applications include deep curing of adhesives, inks, and coatings, forensic detection, fluorescence inspection, and reptile or aquatic research.
The 395 nm variants (USF395N1/MTE3950N1-UV and USF395N2/MTE3950N2-UV) feature round and flat lenses. They suit general-purpose curing, 3D printing, counterfeit detection, and household inspection. Their visible purple glow makes it easy to monitor curing in real time.
The 405 nm near-UV LEDs (VSF405N1/MTE4050N1-UV and VSF405N2/MTE4050N2-UV) operate at the edge of the visible spectrum. They penetrate thick coatings and adhesives, support cationic polymerization, and enable high-gloss, tack-free finishes. They are also effective for continuous disinfection of occupied spaces with lower impact on skin and eyes than deep-UV solutions.
Founded in 1985, Marktech is a Latham, New York–based joint venture of Optrans and Marktech International. It specializes in custom optoelectronic packaging, silicon photodiodes, and compound semiconductor emitters. Optrans, headquartered in Japan, delivers high-performance optoelectronics spanning UV to infrared spectra.
With these additions, Optrans and Marktech expand design flexibility for engineers and OEMs, offering precise, reliable UV lighting for a growing range of industrial, scientific, and specialty applications.
