OM SYSTEM, the global imaging technology leader built on the 85-year legacy of Olympus, has announced the launch of two new imaging products in India, marking a defining moment in its renewed focus on the country. The company introduced the OM-5 Mark II interchangeable lens camera and the M.ZUIKO DIGITAL ED 50-200mm F2.8 IS PRO lens, designed to empower outdoor creators across wildlife, macro, birding, landscape, travel, and street photography. The launch underscores OM SYSTEM’s commitment to India as a strategic hub within its Asia Pacific roadmap, coinciding with the festive season to strengthen its connect with Indian consumers and photography enthusiasts.
The OM-5 Mark II builds on the trusted legacy of the OM-5 series and is crafted for creators who demand reliability, portability, and performance in challenging real-world environments. Compact and lightweight, the camera is equipped with splash, dust, and freezeproof protection (IPX53, up to -10°C), ensuring it can withstand diverse terrains. Among its key improvements are a redesigned grip for enhanced ergonomics and an advanced 5-axis image stabilization system, delivering class-leading stability for handheld shooting. These targeted upgrades are a direct response to feedback from outdoor photographers, reinforcing OM SYSTEM’s positioning as a brand shaped by the needs of its users.
Complementing the camera is the newly launched M.ZUIKO DIGITAL ED 50-200mm F2.8 IS PRO lens, a super telephoto zoom model that sets new benchmarks in imaging performance. Offering a wide focal range equivalent to 100-400mm in 35mm format, the lens maintains a constant F2.8 aperture across the zoom range, delivering superior resolution and clarity. Engineered for compatibility with the Micro Four Thirds System standard, it is fully capable of 5-axis sync IS, enabling up to seven steps of compensation and making extreme telephoto shooting possible without a tripod. For wildlife and birding photographers in particular, the lens provides a one-of-a-kind experience that blends versatility with professional-grade optical performance.
The launch reflects OM SYSTEM’s broader strategy to build a strong ecosystem in India, comprising cutting-edge products, dealer partnerships, and community engagement initiatives. Shigemi Sugimoto, CEO of OM Digital Solutions Corporation, highlighted the significance of the Indian market, stating, “Our vision for India is to build a strong and enduring ecosystem — one that empowers photographers with cutting-edge technology, nurtures creativity, and strengthens our channel and dealer partnerships for long-term success. India is not just a growth market; it is a strategic priority in our global roadmap.”
Vivek Handoo, Vice President – Head of APAC/Managing Director, OM SYSTEM, added that the simultaneous introduction of the OM-5 Mark II and the PRO long zoom lens reflects the company’s leadership in outdoor imaging. “Together, they reinforce our leadership in outdoor imaging and open new avenues for growth in India’s rapidly expanding mirrorless camera segment. We believe these launches will not only strengthen our market position but also catalyze a new wave of creativity and adoption among Indian photographers, paving the way for sustained growth in the years ahead,” he said.
In line with its efforts to foster a vibrant photography culture, OM SYSTEM also announced the continuation of its annual APAC photography competition. The contest will run each year from October to January, with winners announced in March, offering participants an opportunity to showcase their creativity on a global stage.
The OM-5 Mark II with 14-150mm lens is priced at INR 1,39,990 and will be available in India starting September 18, 2025, with a festive offer that includes complimentary 10×50 binoculars worth INR 14,990.
