Amprius Technologies, Inc. (NYSE: AMPX) has appointed Ricardo C. Rodriguez as Chief Financial Officer, effective immediately, following the planned retirement of former CFO Sandra Wallach, who will remain with the company for a transitional period. The leadership change comes as Amprius, a developer of next-generation lithium-ion batteries using its Silicon Anode Platform, prepares to scale commercial operations and global manufacturing.
Rodriguez brings more than 20 years of finance, strategy, and operational experience in the automotive, mobility, and technology sectors. He most recently served as CFO and Treasurer of Aspen Aerogels (NYSE: ASPN), guiding the company through a period of capital expansion, operational growth, and strategic positioning in electrification materials. Prior to his CFO role at Aspen, Rodriguez was Chief Strategy Officer, overseeing commercial expansion and long-term planning.
“Ricardo is a proven financial and strategic leader with deep expertise in electrification and advanced technologies,” said Dr. Kang Sun, CEO of Amprius Technologies. “His track record of driving growth with financial discipline in high-performance markets will serve as a valuable guide as we expand our commercial reach, scale global manufacturing, and reinforce Amprius’ leadership in advanced battery technology.”
Rodriguez expressed enthusiasm for his new role, stating, “I am honored to join Amprius at such a pivotal point in its journey. The company’s silicon anode technology is redefining electrification, and I look forward to advancing our strategy, scaling operations efficiently, and partnering with our global teams to expand this breakthrough platform for aviation, defense, and advanced mobility.”
Amprius also acknowledged the contributions of outgoing CFO Sandra Wallach, who played a key role in the company’s transition to a public entity and in maintaining disciplined capital stewardship.
Rodriguez’s career spans senior leadership roles across the technology and automotive sectors, including Corporate Strategy Director at Aptiv (NYSE: APTV), where he launched the Vehicle Electrification Systems group, as well as positions at ClearMotion, GM’s OnStar division, Amazon, and Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (now Stellantis). He began his career in investment banking at Lazard, specializing in automotive mergers, acquisitions, and restructuring.
Rodriguez holds a BS in Mechanical Engineering from General Motors Institute/Kettering University and an MBA from Harvard Business School.
