Former Power Integrations CFO Sandeep Nayyar Joins Altera

Altera Corp., the independent provider of pure-play FPGA solutions, has named Sandeep Nayyar as its chief financial officer, the company announced.

Nayyar joins Altera after more than a decade at Power Integrations, where he served as CFO since 2010. In that role, he oversaw finance, human resources, and corporate development, helping guide the company through a sustained period of growth and operational expansion.

His earlier career includes senior finance roles at Applied Biosystems and Quantum Corp. At Applied Biosystems, Nayyar contributed to the company’s expansion initiatives and later played a role in its sale to Life Technologies, now part of Thermo Fisher Scientific. At Quantum, he was involved in the company’s market growth efforts and its eventual acquisition by Maxtor, which was later purchased by Seagate.

Altera Chief Executive Officer Raghib Hussain said the appointment brings “deep domain expertise across technology sectors” and highlighted Nayyar’s track record in scaling global organizations and managing capital allocation.

Nayyar said he was joining Altera at “a transformative time” and pointed to the company’s position as an independent FPGA provider with opportunities in cloud, edge, and embedded markets.

Altera, which was spun out of Intel, is focusing on strengthening its role in the global FPGA market. The sector is drawing increasing attention as demand for programmable logic devices rises across applications including artificial intelligence, cloud computing, and communications infrastructure.

Nayyar holds a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Delhi. He is a Chartered Accountant in India and a Certified Public Accountant in California. He also attended Stanford University’s Directors College and was recognized by Financial Executives International as CFO of the Year for small public companies in 2017.
