Axelera AI, a Netherlands-based provider of purpose-built AI hardware acceleration solutions, has announced the expansion of its leadership team with three strategic appointments aimed at supporting its rapid global growth. The move comes as the company scales operations to meet surging demand for its Metis AI platform, designed for high-performance, energy-efficient AI inference at the edge.
The company named Marta Ostroumoff as its new Chief Financial Officer, Eke Bijzitter as Head of Legal, and elevated Alexis Crowell, currently Chief Marketing Officer, to the additional role of General Manager for the Americas.
The appointments follow Axelera AI’s recent momentum, including a €68 million grant from the European Union’s DARE initiative to advance the development of AI chiplets for high-performance computing and supercomputing applications.
“As demand for real-time edge analytics accelerates, we are strengthening our leadership bench to better support our customers and partners around the world,” said Fabrizio Del Maffeo, Co-founder and CEO of Axelera AI. “These new executives bring deep operational and strategic experience critical to our next phase of growth.”
Ostroumoff joins from autonomous vehicle software firm Oxa, where she served as CFO and led a $140 million Series C fundraising round. Her background spans financial planning, international expansion, and scaling teams for high-growth technology firms.
Bijzitter, a legal veteran with experience across governance, mergers and acquisitions, and compliance, brings 15 years of leadership from cybersecurity firm Gemalto (now Thales). She is expected to help navigate Axelera’s global operations through increasingly complex regulatory landscapes.
Crowell, who joined Axelera in late 2024, has played a key role in expanding the company’s marketing footprint and partner network. In her expanded role, she will oversee commercial operations across the Americas, shaping regional strategy and supporting local go-to-market efforts.
Headquartered at the AI Innovation Center on the High Tech Campus in Eindhoven, Netherlands, Axelera AI operates R&D centers across Belgium, Switzerland, Italy, and the UK, with more than 180 employees spanning 18 countries.
The company’s flagship Metis AI Platform, along with the Voyager SDK, enables scalable, high-efficiency edge AI inference across sectors including computer vision and generative AI. With its growing leadership team, Axelera AI is positioning itself as a major player in the global edge AI semiconductor market.
