Global professional services company Accenture (NYSE: ACN) has acquired SYSTEMA, a German-based provider of software solutions and consulting services for manufacturing automation. The move aims to enhance Accenture’s capabilities in serving semiconductor and high-tech manufacturing clients, particularly in Europe, as demand for advanced and automated production solutions grows.
Headquartered in Dresden, SYSTEMA brings over three decades of experience in digitally transforming complex manufacturing environments. The company is known for its deep expertise in manufacturing execution systems (MES), with specialized skills in SAP ME/MII/DM and Critical Manufacturing platforms, widely used across semiconductor, aerospace, medical, electronics, automotive, and specialty chemicals industries.
“Today’s society relies heavily on semiconductors for everything from smartphones to cars, and there is a strong commitment in Europe to strengthen the industry’s manufacturing capabilities,” said Christina Raab, Market Unit Lead for Accenture in Austria, Switzerland, and Germany. “SYSTEMA’s deep expertise in the semiconductor industry will expand our capabilities and grow our business in ways we couldn’t achieve organically.”
Despite the advanced nature of semiconductor products, many manufacturers continue to rely on legacy equipment, where full automation remains a challenge. SYSTEMA is noted for its ability to digitally connect legacy systems, enhancing traditional MES with data analytics and optimization capabilities—critical for improving efficiency and output.
Accenture’s Industry X division, which integrates engineering, manufacturing, and supply chain capabilities, will absorb SYSTEMA’s team of more than 240 professionals. The acquisition is intended to position Accenture as a comprehensive transformation partner across the full manufacturing value chain.
“We are combining SYSTEMA’s semiconductor and high-tech expertise with Accenture’s global scale to serve clients across supply, logistics, and production,” said Sarat Maitin, who leads Industry X in Austria, Switzerland, and Germany. “Our ambition is to help clients across Europe secure competitiveness in an increasingly pressured global market.”
Manfred Austen, CEO of SYSTEMA, emphasized the synergy between the two firms: “With Accenture’s capabilities in data, AI, and supply chain, and our manufacturing IT/OT solutions, we can innovate and scale more effectively, while continuing to strengthen our trusted client relationships.”
