IBM’s Leon Stok Takes Helm of Si2 Board to Drive Semiconductor Design Advancements

Leon Stok, Vice President of EDA at IBM, elected Chair of Si2 Board

The Silicon Integration Initiative (Si2) has elected Dr. Leon Stok, Vice President of Electronic Design Automation (EDA) at IBM, as Chair of its Board of Directors for the remainder of the 2025–2026 term.

Dr. Stok, a longstanding member of the Si2 Board since 2007, has previously held multiple leadership positions, including prior terms as Board Chair. At IBM, he oversees teams delivering advanced design and verification flows and tools for systems such as IBM Z, Power, and IBM Quantum, supporting some of the world’s most sophisticated computing platforms.

A recognized authority in EDA, Dr. Stok earned his Ph.D. from Eindhoven University in 1991. He has presented over 40 keynotes and tutorials at leading IEEE and ACM conferences and at major universities globally. His research contributions span high-level architectural synthesis, low-power design, placement-driven synthesis, and automated schematic placement and routing, with more than 60 published papers.

Dr. Stok also holds 13 patents in electronic design automation, underscoring his long-standing impact on the field. His election to the Si2 Chair reflects his ongoing commitment to advancing semiconductor design innovation and collaboration across the EDA industry.
