Cadence Design Systems Inc. said it has completed its purchase of Arm’s Artisan foundation IP unit, adding standard cell libraries, memory compilers, and general-purpose I/Os optimized for advanced process nodes at leading foundries.
The deal, first announced earlier this year, broadens Cadence’s portfolio of design IP, which already includes protocol and interface IP, memory interfaces, and SerDes IP. By integrating Artisan’s assets, the company aims to strengthen its position in system-on-chip (SoC) design and reinforce its focus on helping customers accelerate time to market while managing cost, power, and performance demands.
Cadence, which trades on Nasdaq under the ticker CDNS, said the acquisition is not expected to materially affect its revenue or earnings in 2025. The move underscores intensifying competition among chip design toolmakers as demand for advanced-node semiconductors expands across data centers, mobile devices, and automotive applications.
