Infineon Technologies AG (FSE: IFX / OTCQX: IFNNY) is deepening its role in the rapidly evolving humanoid robotics sector through a collaboration with NVIDIA. The semiconductor company announced it will integrate its expertise in microcontrollers, sensors, and smart actuators with NVIDIA’s Jetson Thor Series modules, aiming to deliver motor control solutions that are more efficient, scalable, and capable of supporting complex robotic functions.

Humanoid robots are increasingly being deployed across industries such as manufacturing, logistics, and healthcare, where precise motion and reliability are critical. Infineon believes its portfolio of technologies, when combined with NVIDIA’s accelerated computing platform, will help original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and original design manufacturers (ODMs) reduce time-to-market while building robots capable of more sophisticated performance.

“We are excited to collaborate with NVIDIA, a leader and innovator in the humanoid robotics space,” said Jochen Hanebeck, CEO of Infineon Technologies. “By combining our microcontroller, sensor, and smart actuator expertise with NVIDIA accelerated computing technology, we will deliver a simple, integrated, and scalable solution to our customers. Infineon enables the key functional blocks in humanoid robots with a broad portfolio of dedicated products and technologies – from power switches to microcontrollers, sensors, and connectivity. We empower humanoid robots to sense, move, act and connect, safely and securely.”

NVIDIA sees the partnership as a way to advance its vision of physical AI. “NVIDIA Jetson Thor is designed to accelerate the future of physical AI and robotics,” said Deepu Talla, Vice President of Robotics and Edge AI at NVIDIA. “Infineon is bringing their broad product and technology portfolio to the Jetson Thor ecosystem to help accelerate customers’ time-to-market by creating more efficient, powerful, and scalable motor control solutions for humanoid robots.”

Infineon brings a wide-ranging portfolio of solutions to the table. Its PSOC and AURIX microcontroller families, known for advanced security features, provide multi-core real-time processing crucial for adaptive robotic systems. Building on its leadership in automotive microcontrollers, Infineon leverages safety and reliability expertise from critical automotive applications for humanoid designs. With its recent acquisition of Marvell’s Automotive Ethernet business, Infineon also added the BRIGHTLANE series for high-speed Ethernet connectivity, another vital component for humanoid platforms.

The company’s PSOC Control C3 family of microcontrollers integrates with NVIDIA’s Holoscan Sensor Bridge and Jetson Thor modules, supporting real-time AI and motor control. These systems are optimized for field-oriented-control (FOC) algorithms, which reduce vibrations and ensure smoother, more precise motion. Infineon further enhances motor efficiency with gallium nitride (GaN)-based transistors, gate drivers, and current sensors designed to address communication and design complexities in robotics.

Through this initiative, Infineon is positioning itself as a critical enabler of humanoid robotics, advancing the ability of these systems to perform increasingly complex tasks with accuracy and dependability.
