Radar technology company bitsensing has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Ontact Health, a digital healthcare innovator, to jointly develop smart health management services. The partnership will integrate bitsensing’s radar sensor solutions with Ontact Health’s AI-driven health assessment platform to deliver personalized and preventive health monitoring, with a particular focus on sleep data.
Under the agreement, the two companies will collaborate on developing new services, combining radar-based sleep sensors with AI-powered health evaluation technology. The partnership also includes proof-of-concept initiatives and commercialization of solutions designed for residential and senior care environments, where demand for continuous and contactless health monitoring is growing.
The move comes as scientific evidence increasingly underscores the link between sleep quality and immune health. A well-cited study by Carnegie Mellon University found that individuals sleeping fewer than seven hours were more than twice as likely to contract colds when exposed to viruses. During deep sleep, cytokines—proteins critical to immune defense—are released, making sleep data a valuable biomarker for early health risk detection.
Bitsensing’s contactless radar sleep sensor is designed to capture vital biometric signals such as respiration, heart rate, and movement in real time, without the need for wearables. This makes the technology particularly suitable for infants, elderly populations, or patients unable to use conventional tracking devices. Ontact Health complements this with its AI-based platform, which analyzes health and lifestyle data, predicts risks, and generates personalized health assessments validated by clinical experts.
“Our goal is to connect precise sleep analysis via contactless radar with meaningful health outcomes,” said Jae-Eun Lee, CEO of bitsensing. “This collaboration with Ontact Health is a critical step in delivering practical and next-generation health services.”
Hyuk-Jae Jang, CEO of Ontact Health, added, “Continuous health management that integrates seamlessly into daily life is essential to making healthcare a natural part of everyday routines. Sleep plays a vital role in this effort, and our collaboration with bitsensing accelerates the path toward making such services practical and accessible.”
The MOU also sets the stage for broader cooperation in areas such as joint research, government-backed projects, and demonstration initiatives. By fusing precision sensing with AI-based insights, both companies aim to redefine digital health services with scalable, real-world applications.
Founded in 2018, South Korea-based bitsensing has raised $52 million in funding and partners with leading organizations, including NXP Semiconductors. Ontact Health continues to advance AI-driven healthcare models, focusing on preventive and personalized approaches to well-being.
