Heilind Names Charles Tan as Asia President After Sim’s Exit

APPOINTED

Heilind Electronics, a global distributor of interconnect, electromechanical, and sensor solutions, announced the retirement of William Sim, President of Heilind Asia, effective July 15, 2025. Charles Tan, an industry veteran with over a decade of executive experience, has been appointed to succeed Sim, assuming the role immediately.

Sim, who joined Heilind during the early stages of its Asia expansion, is credited with establishing the company’s presence across key markets including Greater China, Southeast Asia, and India. Under his leadership, the company strengthened its regional supply chain and expanded its customer base across industrial, automotive, and consumer electronics sectors.

“William Sim’s leadership has been vital to our growth in Asia,” said Robert Clapp, President and CEO of Heilind Electronics. “He built a strong foundation that has positioned Heilind as a trusted distribution partner across the region.”

Charles Tan joins Heilind from Future Electronics, where he served as Managing Director for Greater China. His background includes 12 years of executive leadership in electronic components distribution, with a focus on scaling businesses and enhancing operational performance in complex regional environments.

Tan holds a Bachelor of Science in Telecommunications Engineering from Shanghai University of Technology, a Master’s degree in Economics from Fudan University, and an MBA from McGill University.

“Charles brings a deep understanding of Asia’s electronics distribution landscape,” Clapp added. “We are confident in his ability to build on our momentum and lead the next phase of growth.”

The leadership transition highlights Heilind’s ongoing investment in regional leadership and infrastructure, aimed at enhancing service capabilities and market responsiveness in Asia.

Heilind Electronics, founded in 1974, operates across North and South America, Europe, and Asia, offering a broad portfolio of connectors, sensors, switches, relays, and thermal management products.
