RealSense, a developer of AI-powered computer vision systems, has officially spun out from Intel Corporation, launching as an independent company backed by $50 million in Series A funding. The funding round was led by a semiconductor-focused private equity firm, with participation from Intel Capital, MediaTek Innovation Fund, and other strategic investors.

The newly formed company will focus on expanding its presence in the robotics, biometrics, and industrial automation markets, while continuing to supply its existing customer base. The capital will be used to scale operations, accelerate product development, and expand RealSense’s global sales and go-to-market footprint.

RealSense has a track record of innovation in depth-sensing and embedded vision systems, with its technology currently used in more than 60% of the world’s autonomous mobile and humanoid robots. The company’s latest offering, the D555 depth camera, incorporates its next-generation Vision SoC V5 and supports Power over Ethernet (PoE), reflecting continued investment in edge AI capabilities.

“We see growing demand across sectors where AI and robotics are intersecting,” said Nadav Orbach, CEO of RealSense. “Operating independently gives us the agility to innovate faster and respond more effectively to evolving market needs.”

The company maintains a global customer base exceeding 3,000 and holds over 80 patents. Its solutions are used across industries including healthcare, security, and industrial automation. Notable partners include ANYbotics, Eyesynth, Fit:Match, and Unitree Robotics.

RealSense plans to expand its engineering and GTM teams as it looks to tap into projected growth in robotics and facial biometrics. Industry forecasts suggest the global robotics market will grow from $50 billion today to more than $200 billion within six years. Meanwhile, facial recognition technology is increasingly being adopted in applications ranging from airport security to consumer access systems.

The leadership team includes executives with backgrounds in AI, product development, and embedded systems, drawn from both Intel and the broader technology sector.

As RealSense transitions into its next phase, the company will continue to support its current product roadmap while exploring adjacent markets and new applications for its vision technology.
