In a significant development within the semiconductor industry, Key Foundry, an 8-inch pure-play foundry based in Korea, has inked a long-term supply agreement with Vishay Intertechnology Inc. (NYSE: VSH), a global leader in discrete semiconductors and passive electronic components. The partnership is set to enhance the production of multiple power MOSFET products, crucial components known for their low loss, high-speed switching, and reliability in high-voltage, high-current operations. These MOSFETs find applications in a wide array of electronic devices.
Market analysis by OMDIA forecasts a steady growth trajectory for the power discrete market, anticipating a Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) of 6% from $21.2 billion in 2022 to a projected $28.4 billion market in 2027. Vishay’s expertise in power semiconductors spans various sectors, including automotive DC-DC converters, battery management systems, HVAC control, LED lighting, as well as consumer and industrial products such as TVs, refrigerators, washing machines, and VR/AR devices.
The long-term foundry service agreement signed between Key Foundry and Vishay encompasses the production of multiple power MOSFET products, with mass production slated to commence in 2024. Additionally, both entities are engaged in discussions regarding future product development.
